HP shows how its technology can bring people together in a moving holiday spot that tells the story of two brothers, one of whom is deaf.

Created by AMV BBDO and directed by Seb Edwards at Academy, "Reinvent Giving" is the story of Zac, a musician who plays in an up-and-coming band, and his deaf younger brother Rich (played by deaf actor Josh Castille in an impressively touching performance.)

While they clearly have a very close bond, there is a divide between them because of Rich's inability to truly be a part of Zac's music. So Zac, using his HP Spectre x36, sets out to build a machine that translates music into a colorful, multi-sensory experience that enables Rich to feel music and be part of his brother's passion.

The spot will run on TV in the U.S. and will also be viewable online. As part of the campaign, AMV BBDO has also developed a website and app entitled "Sound In Color" allowing the user to record any sound and visualize it in a piece of art. Using an original algorithm, users will be able to turn a sound clip, for example a baby's laugh, into a unique artwork that can be printed on to canvas, or shared via social media as a gift. The app will go live in the run-up to Christmas.
