Seen in magazines across Asia, this campaign "uses the positive traits of animals to represent what a client is looking for in potential candidates," says Joel Clement, regional head of art at Saatchi & Saatchi Southeast Asia. Lest it seem there's something demeaning about portraying executives with animal heads, positive traits notwithstanding, " 'The right animal for the right job' is part of the vernacular in Asia," so it's a natural "to pay off this visual idea," he explains. In the PDF, a wise owl represents a strategic planner; "the tenacious British bulldog," as Clement puts it, is an advertising MD; and "the playful orangutan embodies the qualities required in a creative director." (Interestingly, orangutan means "man of the forest" in Malay.) As for the marketing director camel we open with, presumably the job requires someone too busy to make water cooler conversation.
