Not Even the Worst Traffic Can Get These Hyundai Drivers Down, in Cute Sonata Ad

Aaron Stoller Directs a Feelgood Ad for Innocean

Even hellish traffic can't stress out the happy folks who drive a Hyundai Sonata in the brand's latest ad.

The spot features a guy in gridlock who turns up the radio and sings along to "Sweet Caroline" as he moves slowly along in the bumper-to-bumper jam. All his fellow commuters look stressed and annoyed, except one -- a fellow Sonata driver who joins in. It's not quite the opening scenes of "LaLa Land," but it's a cute and feelgood scenario.

"The new Sonata makes every mile a little better," said Dean Evans, chief marketing officer, Hyundai Motor America, in a statement. "We fully recognize that the road of life is hectic enough already. While we can't control what other drivers do, or change your crazy commute, we've done everything possible to make that daily drive more enjoyable, as this new spot demonstrates in a fun, lighthearted way. The new Sonata may not shorten your commute, but it can certainly help make it sweeter."

The ad, by Innocean and directed by Aaron Stoller at Biscuit, began airing on U.S. national and regional TV, and digital platforms this week.
