Intuit's Super Bowl 'Losers' Get Their Own Ads

Also-rans from Marketer's Big-Game Commercial Competition Score Their Own Spots via RPA

The runners-up from Intuit's "Small Business Big Game" contest promising a small business a commercial on the Super Bowl turned out not to be losers after all. This week, Intuit and agency RPA released three 30-second spots promoting each of the also-rans, dog food company Barley Labs, organic egg brand Locally Laid and natural dairy compost Poop.

The spots will be running through June on Fox Sports 1 and 2 and on Intuit's various social media channels, includnig YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

The ads bring a humorous voice to each brand. Found footage of overly excited dogs illustrate the joy Barley Labs brings to those who eat its chow, scenes of a chicken running free poke fun at Locally Laid's suggestive name, while children's tv show-style puppets promote Poop's chemical and stench-free qualities.

The winner of the contest was Goldieblox, the girls' engineering toy set that landed this Quiet Riot-backed commercial on the Super Bowl.

As for the latest spots,"Our goal was to give a voice to each of these charming small businesses that reflects the brands' genuine personalities," said Adam Lowrey, creative director at RPA. "It was inspiring to create spots for the winning small business, knowing what it would mean for the small business community as a whole to be represented on national TV among huge, well-known brands."
