One nation not participating in the World Cup as it kicks off this week is the Netherlands. The 2010 runners-up failed to qualify this time around, and the soccer-mad Dutch will have to watch the tournament without their home team.
Agency Iris Amsterdam is therefore reaching out to Dutch fans with special tissue boxes for them to dry their tears. Each Dutch Comfort box is created in the national orange color and features illustrations of past Dutch footballing greatness. The illustrated images represent Giovanni van Bronckhorst's goal in 2010 against Uruguay in the World Cup semi-finals, as well as Robin van Persie's iconic header in the 2014 World Cup against Spain.
The boxes are not for sale, but a select number will be available to players and fans. People just have to tweet their favorite Dutch footballing moment to @DutchComfortBox for the chance to win.
"As lovers of Dutch football, we were just as gutted that the Flying Dutchmen aren't going to Russia this summer," explained creative Tristan Lenczner, who came up with the idea with his partner Simon Carr. The pair worked with illustrator David Flanagan, who has designed previous work for Manchester City FC and New York City FC.
