RPA ECD Jason Sperling, who's not one to shy away from taking things up a notch, has come out with a new advertising and marketing book, Look at Me When I'm Talking to You. Eschewing the typical launch, he's debuting tidbits of the book's content through Instagram in an effort to practice what he preaches.
Over the next month, he'll be releasing humorously illustrated "snack-sized" posts on social media (@lookatmebook) in an effort to stir up conversation on the topics covered in the book. His aim is to present the "new rules" to inspiring genuine brand loyalty amongst consumers.
The launch of the book itself is meant to demonstrate one of his key premises -- to "wholeheartedly connect with consumers where they naturally consume content. . .My goal is for the book to be a crucial tool in defeating 'adpathy' -- the unconscious disassociation and indifference toward marketing due to an overabundance of media and messages out in the world. And the launch of the book will mirror the advice I'm giving," he said in a statement.
The book will be officially released on June 25. Mr. Sperling has spent nearly two decades in the ad business and has worked on accounts including Apple, Honda, ESPN and Pixar.
