Woody Guthrie's Famous Song Helps to Paint Portrait of Modern-Day U.S.A.

Woody Guthrie's classic folk tune "This Land Is Your Land" serves as poignant, powerful backdrop for Johnnie Walker's new "Keep Walking" ad, which illustrates the famous tag through the lens of the hard-working citizens of modern-day America.

The ad opens with the words, "Only look back, to see how far you've come." A voiceover then recites, in both English and Spanish, the lyrics of the famous song, sans music. Curiously, it starts at an unexpected point, with the lyrics "As I went walking, I saw a sign. And on the sign it said, 'No trespassing.' But on the other side, it said nothing. That side, was made for you and me."

It seems a not-so-subtle reference to Trump's wall, as we see throughout the film Latinos, African Americans and others toiling at work -- at their computers, on farms, in the hospital -- and reveling in their lives here in the U.S., dancing wildly, nervously prepping for a wedding. It's a picture of the U.S. undermined and unrecognized in the rhetoric of the Republican presidential candidate's speeches through his campaign.

"The meaning behind the lyrics powerfully communicate the core message that America has always been and should always remain a progressive nation, built on values that celebrate and reward people from all colors and creeds," said a statement from the brand.

Created out of Anomaly and directed by Anonymous Content's Chris Sargent, the ad will air tonight during TBS' broadcast of "Full Frontal With Samantha Bee." Over the span of two weeks, it captured real stories from all across the U.S., in cities including Santa Fe, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Washington D.C. and New York.
