KFC's 'Big Chicken' Comes to Life in This Delightful Animated Tale

W&K and Georgia's Awesome Inc. Pay Homage to a Local Legend

The town of Marietta, Georgia, is famous for its "Big Chicken" -- a 56-foot-tall steel fowl marking a KFC restaurant that recently re-opened to the public after a $2.2 million renovation. To celebrate, the fast-food chain has released a delightful animated film in which the giant chicken comes to life and befriends a small boy.

The film, entitled "Big Chicken, Small Movie," tells the story of a boy who adores the big chicken, and, despite being teased at school, draws endless pictures of it. One day the chicken notices the drawings, and makes its way across town to the boy, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Boy and chicken go for a day out to the countryside, but meanwhile, the townspeople are frantic, wondering where the chicken has gone. Eventually the boy brings the chicken back to Marietta, a hero.

It's a sweet homage to a local legend and indeed many of the people who worked on the project are local -- creative director Jason Kreher from Wieden & Kennedy Portland hails from the Atlanta area, and Georgia production company Awesome Inc. was responsible for the animation and direction.
