A new ad from KFC running in Ireland takes a funny look at some of the things Irish-Americans do that really, really annoy Irish people.
The spot, by BBH, promotes the fast food chain's new Irish-themed O'Sanders burger, and as such takes the form of an "official apology to the people of Ireland" on behalf of the the "35 million Americans claiming to be Irish."
A red-headed, American-accented spokesguy says sorry for crimes such as mispronouncing Irish names like Aoife and Eibhlin; asking people if they know some distant ancestor; inquiring about pots of gold hidden away; turning food green and calling St. Patrick's Day "Patty's Day." The presenter ultimately admits that the O'Sanders burger is "not really Irish...but so what?"
The endline then reads, "KFC O'Sanders Burger -- It's Irish-ish."
