There's Nothing Special About Thursday For This Lonely Little Boy

Bleak Spot From U.K.'s Kids Company Makes For Uncomfortable Viewing

Published on

Editor's Pick
Christmas Day falls on a Thursday this year, but, as this hard-hitting spot from U.K. children's charity Kids Company reminds us, for some neglected kids, it will just be another miserable Thursday. The film shows us a young boy as he gets himself up, lets himself out of the house with a fearful glance upstairs, roams the empty streets with the odd glimpse of happier families celebrating Christmas, and comes home again to the silent and unkempt house to watch TV. With no soundtrack, it's quietly bleak and communicates the child's misery in a way that makes for uncomfortable viewing. The spot was created by Droga5 Europe, and directed by WhatSheSaid through production company Somesuch, with all involved working pro bono.
