Editor's Pick

This beautiful film highlighting the importance of the Leica brand in the history of photography earned one of the two Film Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2015. The jury praised it for being a "nearly perfect piece of filmmaking, the visual storytelling is unique and stunning, the writing is absolutely amazing and importantly, it [addresses] a brand and category that is challenged now with cellphones, photography," according to Jury President/Grey Global CCO Tor Myhren. Original Story:

Leica recreates 35 iconic photographs, from Annie Leibovitz's image of John Lennon and Yoko Ono to Robert Doisneau's "The Kiss," in this film celebrating its 100th anniversary. The German photographic brand commissioned Brazilian agency F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi to honor the legacy of the first Leica camera, as well as mark the opening of a Leica Gallery in Sao Paulo in November. The narrator of this two-minute film points out that not all these frames were taken with a Leica, but underlines the company's historic importance to photography as a whole. Directed by Jones and Tino of Stink, the film cleverly links the photographic recreations into an almost seamless sequence.
