Matthew McConaughey Signs Up for Multi-year Deal to Promote Lincoln

Actor Teams With Director NIcholas Refn on New TV and Digital Campaign

Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey today debuted his latest gig as multi-year spokesman for the Lincoln Motor Company. The car brand launched this trailer today, the first execution in what will be a series of television of digital campaigns promoting the 2015 Lincoln MKC utility vehicle.

Lincoln tapped director Nicholas Refn ("Drive") to craft a story around the new vehicle, which Mr. McConaughey builds out in "unscripted moments" in the first campaign.

When Lincoln approached Mr. McConaughey, "I liked what the message was about," he told Ad Age/Creativity sibling publication Automotive News. "'Authentic' was the word that kept coming out. I like the history, the fact that it's American made."

The campaign isn't Mr. McConaughey's first acting role in a Lincoln. As noted in the Automotive News story, he played a shady attorney who practiced out of the back seat of his Lincoln Town Car in the 2011 film "The Lincoln Lawyer."
