John Malkovich is starring in a film for Louise XIII Cognac -- but you'll probably never see it in your lifetime.

The film, for which Malkovich also wrote the screenplay, explores hypothetical visions of what the Earth might be like in one hundred years. Although you can see a trailer, here, the finished film has been placed in a special safe featuring bulletproof glass and a timer that records the time and date upon closure and counts down one hundred years. Once closed, the safe will not open until the one hundred year countdown is complete on November 18, 2115. (Malkovich himself placed the film in the safe at a special party in L.A. and set the timer; it'll be stored at Louis XIII's headquarters in France).

Fans of Malkovich can, however, see some teasers. Each begins with the same dialogue and incorporates the actors (Malkovich and Shuya Chang), but each presents a different future. One imagines the Earth one hundred years from now overtaken by nature. Another sees our planet ruled by technology, while a third depicts how humanoid robots have taken control of the Earth and humans have to run to escape.

Malkovich said in a statement: "When I was first approached I really loved the idea ... I mean, in a way I wish all the films I made wouldn't have been seen for a hundred years. I don't know how much that would change the way they are regarded."

Fred & Farid New York is the agency behind the project and the director was Robert Rodriguez via Moonwalk Films. It aims to highlight the fact that Louis XIII's own cellar masters put all their efforts into bottles that will never be tasted in their own lifetime. When the safe is finally unlocked in 2115, it has pledged to ask guests -- including its future cellar master, and a descendant of each viewer who received a ticket to the film's preview in 2015 -- to an exclusive premiere.

That is, if they haven't all been overrun by robots.
