Remember the Viewmaster, the classic toy that let you visit different places around the world via a reel of slides? Now Mattel has reinvented it for today's tech savvy kids (and maybe adults, too).

The latest version of the Viewmaster, set to launch this fall, uses Google's Cardboard VR Technology to give users an immersive and interactive virtual trip around the world. Users download the app on an Android smartphone, then slip their phone into the Viewmaster to make it work. So, as this video shows, you could visit attractions such as Alcatraz in 360 degrees, using the Viewmaster interactively to find out more information about the place as if you were really there.
