Today nearly 1000 giant dominos decorated by German schoolchildren and artists from around the world will be toppled at the Brandenburg Gate in Germany. The installation is part of a Mauerfall 09, a larger celebration commemorating the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The domino trail will cover a 1.5 km route close to where the Berlin Wall once stood. According to the Mauerfall site, "The 'domino effect' stands for many brave people as well as contemporary witnesses of the peaceful revolution in the late 1980s."
