To promote its Live Search Maps service, which seemingly combines the prowess of Google Earth with the functionality of Mapquest, Microsoft enlisted EVB to create a digital rat race dubbed “Live Derby 2007.” The agency in turn created a virtual maze-chase game that winds participants through a handful of major cities—namely New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Las Vegas and London.

Featuring animated automobiles and roadways, which are superimposed on actual aerial layouts of each city, the race encourages users to drive past assorted famous locales, collect points and avoid other drivers who are looking to do damage to your automobile. Use your arrow keys to veer through the cityscape, and even if a crash occurs, there is a mechanic you can reach to fix up your banged-up car and continue forward on your mission.
