Here's one cool way the auto industry is offsetting its impact on the environment. Just in time for Milan Fashion Week, MINI debuted a series of limited edition upcycled bags with fashion scion Ilaria Venturini Fendi's Carmina Campus. Fendi helped steer the design of a select line of bags produced from MINI Roadster remnants, following Carmina Campus' green-minded mandate to use only recycled materials for its fashion accessories.
The line features a total of 50 different bags, in styles for men, women or both. Details of each pull from a variety of Roadster parts. The Handle Clutch bag, for example, takes its handle from the Roadster's interior. The bags range in price from 350 to 700 Euros and are on sale at the 10 Corso Como store in Milan, via its online shop or on yoox.com.
Ilaria Venturini Fendi is the youngest daughter of Anna Fendi and previously was a shoe designer for fashion house, as well as creative accessories director of the Fendissime youth line. She retired from the company to run an organic farm in Rome and then in 2006 launched the Carmina Campus label, which specializes in furniture and accessories from reclaimed materials.
