The Lives of Baseball Pros Look Ridiculously Fun in Anomaly's MLB Campaign

Vignettes Show Us Another Side of the Sport's Top Athletes

There's a little bit of something for practically every baseball fan in Anomaly's "This" campaign for Major League Baseball, a series of comedic and sometimes absurd ads that give us a glimpse into the lives of some of the sport's biggest stars. The spots, for example, reveal the "nice" side of Seattle Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez, an unexpected pasttime of Washington Nationals prettyboy Bryce Harper, what L.A. Angels' Mike Trout is really like -- through the eyes of his mom and Chicago Cubs' Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo's (faux) souvenir company "Bryzzo."

Some of the seem to take inspiration comedic playbook of ESPN's Sportscenter, featuring ludicrous scenarios such as one in which the Pittsburgh Pirates' Andrew McCutchen tries to talk Humpty Dumpty down off a fence while the Boston Red Sox's David Price negotiates with his French bulldog bestie.

Others revel in the athletes' prowess, as in one ad starring the Houston Astros' Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa and another highlight the skills of Arizona Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt, while more are just plain fun and show some of the Kansas City Royals taking a "family" picture and Miami Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton taking on team of little toughies.

The spots were directed by David Shafei out of World War Seven.
