My Morning Jacket: Outta My System

A journey through the middle of the earth and into space.

Editor's Pick

Honey Badger's James Frost directs the newest video for My Morning Jacket's "Outta My System," a psychedelic trip that could be a grown up "Magic School Bus" of sorts.

The band's frontman, Jim James, clad in white furry boots, jumps down a rabbit hole to turn an analog music video into an animated journey through a pretty unique outer space, where Zach Galifianakis makes an appearance as an evil wizard who sports a cape and hat over a pullover sweater and cargo pants.

Animation director Michael Gillette worked on the environments, which editor Nicholas Wayman Harris, along with Frost, threaded together into a narrative. Animation is by Grant Kolton, who spent a mammoth three months working on the video.
