Netflix Connects Viewers Via 'Mr. Bear' From 'Full House'

Latest Tech Hack Lets You Watch With a Friend Remotely

Netflix's clever accessories seem to be becoming more show specific. Last week we saw the introduction of the Binge Candle, specifically developed for "Gilmore Girls" fans, and now the broadcaster has developed "Connected Mr Bear," based on the "Mr Bear" teddy from the original sitcom "Full House," to promote "Fuller House."

The campaign, created by Deeplocal, invites viewers to watch Netflix together even if they're far apart. The "Mr. Bear" Teddy bears have two linked hearts connected via a custom "cuddle" sensor. When you hug the first bear, it calls his pair, causing both bears' hearts to slowly pulse. When the bear's buddy is squeezed, both hearts glow brightly and blink three times, turning on Netflix in both locations. As with many of Netflix's other tech hacks, the code and hardware for Connected Mr. Bear is open source -- and, you'll be able to use it on any plushie of your choice, not just a Teddy.

"Fuller House" is a sequel to '80s sitcom "Full House," in which the now grown-up Tanner sisters move in together. Candace Cameron Bure reprises her role as D.J. Tanner in the sequel. The show's second season begins this week.
