Cybersecurity brand NetScout has funded a Werner Herzog-directed documentary about the connected world, which premiered at Sundance this weekend. "Lo and Behold, Reveries of the Connected World" explores the digital transformation of our world. It examines both the power and fragility of our connected world, featuring tech leaders such as Elon Musk and Sebastian Thrun and taking in phenomena like self-driving cars, soccer-playing robots and the likelihood of life on Mars.

Pereira & O'Dell New York, named NetScout's agency of record in early 2015, is behind the brand's involvement in the film. It has been working on a variety of initiatives including developing NetScout's brand platform, "Guardians of the Connected World," for which the documentary is a key launching pad.

"What started out as interviewing a handful of subjects about the state of connectivity, quickly turned into a cornucopia of footage that was destined to become something much bigger," said Herzog in a statement. "The project took a life of its own, and size, and substance, and everything pointed to the direction of a feature-length documentary."

The film opened to several positive reviews, including this one in The Guardian.

This is just the latest in Pereira & O'Dell's smart branded content plays. Previously, the agency earned an Emmy and Cannes Grand Prix for its work on Intel/Toshiba's "Beauty Inside."
