Rupert Murdoch ran these full page ads in UK national newspaper titles this weekend in the UK, in an attempt to stem the damage from the ongoing phone-hacking scandal involving News International. However, events seemed to overtake the media mogul, with the news on Sunday that Rebekah Brooks, his News International chief executive who resigned on Friday, had been arrested.

Britain's most senior police officer, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson, also resigned on Sunday as he was implicated in the scandal. Prior to that Murdoch had shut down the 168-year-old News of the World, laid off its 200 employees and walked away from a $12 billion attempt to buy the rest of British Sky Broadcasting. On Tuesday, Murdoch himself will face British MPs to answer questions on the affair.
