Nike Marks Cubs' Victory With Touching Spot Featuring a Young Baseball Player

'Someday' Campaign Ahead of Game Included Reactive Billboards

Nike marked the Chicago Cubs' victory at the World Series last night after 108 years with a heartwarming spot airing straight after the game, featuring a young Cubs fan playing baseball in the local park.

With the Chicago skyline as a backgrop, the determined young kid acts out his dream of winning the World Series and, according to Nike, embodies the "positive spirit" that led the Cubs to glory. The spot ends with the words "Goodbye Someday" as we hear footage of the commentary from the game as the Cubs won.

Daniel Wolfe at Somesuch/Anonymous Content directed it for Wieden & Kennedy Portland.

Nike also ran a billboard campaign during the run up to the game in Chicago last week, with "living" billboards and train wraps that reacted to action on the field, and urged Chicago residents to "Make Someday Today."
