Can the skills of a game translate to the real world? TBWA/Chiat/Day and Nissan are back for a new round of GT Academy, which gets Gran Turismo players to put their skills to a test by driving on a real track -- the Silverstone Raceway. Sixteen finalists will fight for the prize: the "red helmet" and a chance to become a professional racecar driver.

Like in the earlier round, the proceedings will be cut into a show. This time, the reality series will be broadcast on Spike TV starting Thursday. The show will be hosted by former NFL player Dhani Jones, and the performances will be judged by pro-racers Danny Sullivan, Maryeve Dufault and Boris Said.The show is produced by @radical.media and directed by Jeff Zwart.

This year, additional features have been added to the experience. A second-screen component, dubbed PitPass, will let viewers use their smartphones and tablets and access exclusive content while watching the show, through a special site. The content will include video, interactive maps, polls, and trivia. Viewers can also use Facebook Connect and create their own custom "hot lap video."
