Nissan Super Bowl Ad Tells Emotive Tale of a Racing Driver and His Son

Automaker Celebrates Dads in Super Bowl Spot

Editor's Pick

Nissan's Super Bowl spot celebrating Dads is an emotional roller coaster, whether or not you're a parent. Set to the music of Harry Chapin's "Cat's in the Cradle," the spot, which aired in the second quarter of the game, is all about a racing driver, his wife and his son. One of its most tense moments comes as the wife sits watching her husband's car become involved in a smash-up, as her son plays with a toy car on the rug. The spot, by TBWA/Chiat/Day perfectly captures the mixed emotions that come with fatherhood and being a son -- allthough a car brand reminding us of the dangers of driving is always a risky move.

The ad is Nissan's first Super Bowl commercial in 18 years, and the company only released the first ten seconds pre-game. Read the full story over at AdAge.com
