NYC Ballet: NYC Ballet Art Series
Ballet travels beyond Lincoln Center.
The New York City Ballet and DDB New York are hoping that younger New Yorkers might get interested in the ballet -- and have enlisted the talents of artist FAILE, the Brooklyn-based duo of Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller to make their case. The NYCB Art Series, which includes print, digital banners, out-of-home efforts and postcard inserts, will feature artwork by FAILE and will be placed in neighborhoods not usually associated with Swan Lake: The Lower East Side, East Village and Williamsburg. The artwork combines cool graphic, Parisian cabaret-style aesthetics with ballet-related imagery, like slippers and women mid-pirouette. The series will continue with more collaborations with other artists.
