Idris Elba's Charisma Oozes All Over This New Ad for Oude Meester Brandy

'Mandela' Actor Brings Sultry Performance to South African Spot

Editor's Pick

And we thought Idris Elba couldn't get any hotter. 140 BBDO taps the "Mandela" and "The Wire" actor for its new campaign for Oude Meester brandy. This stylish ad directed by Kim Geldenhuys stars Mr. Elba as a master who imparts all sorts of advice to an up and comer -- but ultimately, the tables are turned when it comes to speaking the South African Xhosa language. The commercial features all the conventions of today's typical liquor advertising--plenty of style, sexy lighting, gorgeous extras--but Mr. Elba's charismatic performance elevates it to a truly watchable experience. Jamie Foxx also stars in an accompanying spot, which you can view here.

Following on from the highly successful "To the Masters" campaign, Oude Meester has launched a new campaign starring Idris Elba.

The ad has Elba imparting advice on mastery to the up and coming young master - Siyabonga Radebe. However, as he discovers at the end of the commercial -- real mastery is having the humility to learn as you go… In this case, the South African Xhosa language.
