The Outdoor Advertising Association of America has launched Art Everywhere US, a project that will see hundreds of billboards swapped with works of great American art -- including works by Warhol, Lichtenstein and Whistler -- throughout August. Fifty-eight paintings (chosen by the U.S. public in an online survey) will appear on OOH advertising displays including billboards, bus shelters and subway posters.
The Art Institute of Chicago, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art all took part in the project. It was inspired by a similar project that takes place in the U.K., founded by Richard Reed, one of the founders of Innocent Drinks.
