Peel: Peel app

An end to channel surfing?

Published on Mar 07, 2011

Editor's Pick

Peel is a free iPhone (and soon to be Android) app that will find you something good to watch, as long as you tell it what you like and where you are. Together with its 'Peel Fruit' hardware peripherals, it will also act as a remote for your TV, audio and DVR.

Now available on iTunes after a soft launch last year, the principle behind the app is to 'peel back' the layers of the channel guide and the monotony of channel surfing. The peripherals, which connect the phone to the TV equipment, come in the shape of a pear, apple and orange - deliberately different from the typical remote and designed to be put on display.
