An Opera Singer Vocalizes the Delights of PlayStation Gaming in Spot for PS4 Pro

Professional Baritone Adelmo Guidarelli Describes Graphics, Explosions and More in Operatic Vocals

Adelmo Guidarelli, a classically trained bass baritone, features in the latest ad from Sony PlayStation, singing about the delights of playing the PS4 Pro.

To the tune of "Largo al factotum" (or more commonly known as "Figaro" from the Mozart opera "The Marriage of Figaro"), he belts out operatic vocals beside a gamer who's making his way through four PS4 games: God of War, Far Cry 5, Monster Hunter: World, and MLB The Show 18, the humor stemming from lyrics such as "check out this cow, check out this truck...blow it all up." PlayStation is also using the concept on social content, such as tips for gamers that will feature operatic vocals. BBH New York created the spot and it was directed by Sam Holst of Chirp.

PlayStation is by no means the first brand to turn to opera singers; in the U.K., a long running campaign by comparison site Go Compare has featured an opera singer called Gio Compario since 2009. The campaign has often been voted the most irritating ad, but has also scored highly on memorability.
