A recent installation at New York's Prada Epicenter store in SoHo features "portraits of 10 notorious women, known both for their skill and their power," says co-founder Michael Rock of 2x4. The portraits were commissioned as "classical oil paintings" by artist Eric White, explains Rock, "then blown up to vast scale. We used portions of the images, particularly the eyes, in the dressing rooms in a special film that you can see only in the mirrors, looking out behind you as you dress. And there are a number of special interactive mirrors that scan the store and the visitors to make beautiful compositions from distorted images." Seen here is Queen Elizabeth I, of course, and in the PDF a doorway is graced by Catherine the Great (the horse earring is a dead giveaway). The cast of notorious women also includes Maria Callas, Nefertiti, Kiki de Montparnasse, Camille Claudel, Mata Hari, Simone de Beauvoir, Jane Austen and Billie Holiday.
