Ads in Times Square underwent a virtual hijack by Public Ad Campaign, the group that uses outdoor adspace for public art as a protest against advertising, last weekend.

Thanks to an augmented reality viewer developed by The Heavy Projects, artworks by street artists Ron English, John Fekner, PosterBoy, Doctor D and Ox appeared in 'virtual adspace' when the users held their smartphones up to the real-life ads.
