Here's a new take on fashion--comedy. Designer Rachel Comey is diving head first into the funny business and today will turn her website into one big livestream for New York City's independent women in comedy. Starting at 4pm and continuing every Thursday for the next three weeks, some of the city's best female jokers and storytellers, including Portlandia's Carrie Brownstein, This American Life's Starlee Kine (check out her hilarious webcam teaser here) and Last Comic Standing's Aparna Nancherla will have a free-for-all with their tales before an online audience.

The idea was conceived by Sean Carmody and multi-tasking creative guy Todd Lamb, the man behind the ridiculously funny "Notes from Chris" art project.

"A lot of the people who wear Rachel's clothes are in the arts," Lamb explains. "So there's a natural crossover there with comedians--like Carrie Brownstein. Rachel's an independent designer who made her career in NYC--so she has a lot of respect for that independent, risk-taking spirit, especially among women. This is an adventurous project because these 'comedy' and 'fashion' circles don't really overlap much. But this is a leap forward to get those worlds to collaborate more.

"My wife and I recently had a baby daughter, so I'm especially excited about women who are outsiders and I want to support them as much as possible," he adds. "That combined with the fact that I'm a gigantic comedy nerd."
