Rock star fantasies became rock star realities for nine lucky bands—and one show-stealing band in particular—when Saturn jammed with Bon Jovi on the "Have A Nice Gig" contest, a nationwide battle of the bands to identity tomorrow's musical superstars. Before each stop of Bon Jovi's 2006 summer tour, one local band was chosen from among legions of hopefuls who recorded MP3s of original songs and uploaded them onto a website created by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, with the nine winners vying for the honor of opening the tour's final date onstage at Giants Stadium. Though the contest is over, the site itself continues to rock, with a nifty "telephone pole" interface plastered with informative flyers and clips of all the semi-finalists' songs. And for those who are more roadie than rock star, there's also a series of amusing "Rock Lesson" videos starring a band of hair-metal socks aptly named The Socks.
