A Shape-Shifting Gunk Monster Chases a Car in This VFX Spectacular for Shell

U.K. Cinema Spot Features Blockbuster-Style VFX by Framestore

Editor's Pick

Spectacular VFX (by Framestore) make this Shell cinema commercial more than just a run-of-the-mill ad about fuel. In it, a shape-shifting monster, representing "engine gunk and corrosion," pursues a car along a mountain road, like something out of a blockbuster movie. However, it can't catch up, and disintegrates completely once the car pulls in at a Shell service station. Promoting Shell V-Power Nitro+, the spot is by JWT London and was directed by Carl Erik Rinsch of MJZ. It'll be running in U.K. cinemas to coincide with showings of "Avengers II, Age of Ultron."
