Situationist: Situationist iPhone App

The randomness of strangers

Editor's Pick

Getting strangers to interact in 'random situations' is the aim of new iPhone app Situationist.

Members upload their photo and pick the situations they want to happen to them from a shortlist, in the knowledge that they might then occur anywhere, and at any time. The app then uses geolocation technology to make the random pairings. Creators Benrik say the situations themselves could stretch from the personal ('hug me') to the political ('help me rouse everyone around us into revolutionary fervor and storm the nearest TV station'). However, the 'situations' are vetted to avoid exhibitionism.
