Skittles' latest marketing effort from its Canadian agency, BBDO Toronto (previously responsible for great campaigns such as Struck by a Rainbow) is an online auction where you bid on custom-made, rainbow-hued Skittles-themed items.
Fans of the brand can browse prizes (which include a painting done with Orange Skittles oil on canvas, as well as Skittles-themed soccer balls, headphones and guitars) at the Auction the Rainbow site, but to win, you have to share your bid on Facebook. The bids with the most Facebook likes will win the items.
The contest is running till August 6, with five new items up for grabs per week. In a statement, Chris Booth, VP associate creative director at BBDO Toronto said: " "Every item was specially made for this auction. We wanted consumers to have something they can keep forever that also channels the humour of the brand."
