Skittles revealed today that its second ever Super Bowl ad will star Aerosmith rocker Steve Tyler -- the first time the brand has featured a celebrity in its "Taste the Rainbow" campaign.
There's no formal teaser, but agency DDB Chicago has released a GIF (seen here) of Tyler with a custom-made Skittles microphone the brand made for him "as a token of appreciation for starring in its ad."
Last year's Super Bowl spot for the brand featured a quirky desert town where everyone has incredibly muscular arms -- even babies -- from arm wrestling over lemon Skittles. At the time, Matt Montei, the brand's senior marketing director of confections and seasonal, said it had deliberately eschewed celebrities in its ad, because "starting off with a celebrity tends to pigeon-hole you."
However, the Wrigley-owned brand now seems to have changed its mind, and we look forward to seeing what the equally colorful Mr. Tyler has in store.
