Snickers Throws a Lifeline to Valentine's Day Deadbeats

Snickers is now offering up its "You're Not You When You're Hungry" tagline as an excuse for Valentine's Day deadbeats --and throwing them a lifeline in the process. The brand, along with agency AMV BBDO and media company Primesight, has put up posters in London that promise to bail out folks who failed to get their loved ones cards or gifts this holiday.

The posters feature a tweak on the standard Snickers line, "You're Forgetful When You're Hungry," with the word "Forgetful" created from 3,000 individual Valentine's Day cards. Passersby can then just peel them off on their way home and avoid the fallout of having overlooked the big day (and maybe they'll consider picking up some Snickers to go along with the last-minute greeting).

But the campaign doesn't end today. Tomorrow, Snickers will be running new ads featuring 3,000 more cards and the copy, "Sorry I forgot. On the plus side, booking a restaurant should be easier. Happy Belated Valentine's."
