If you can get past the wacky voiceovers that seem straight out of the Iron Chef (original version), you’ll see a pretty cool idea out of TBWA/Hakuhodo for Sony Playstation. “Kyaraben,” which roughly translates to Character Lunches, are a popular trend in Japan and describe lunchbox meals made in the theme of pop culture figures. Via social media, Sony asked fans to vote for their favorite characters from the games Metal Gear and Final Fantasy, which recently celebrated their 25th anniversary. Sony and the agency then commissioned elaborate Kyaraben to be made in the likeness of the winners, and the lunches were then presented to the games’ creators during an awards ceremony.
