Sony Playstation Rewinds To 1995 in Nostalgic New Spot

Brand Was Inspired By User Memories Of Video Games

There's incredible attention to detail in this European ad for Sony Playstation 4, which takes us back to 1995 and shows us the history of Playstations 1, 2, 3 and 4 right up to the present day. The action centers on a London flat (and its occupants), with the changing London skyline outside only just one hint of the four different eras depicted. From the posters on the walls to the fashion, hairstyles, products lying around and of course the style of TV, the spot is a huge nostalgia-fest and will no doubt delight die-hard fans of the brand who remember Playstation 1. (We're also glad to see that the flat's occupants have finally tidied up in 2013).

The campaign, by specialist branded content agency Drum, also includes a competition on the Sony Europe website. Viewers can guess the correct order in which the four Playstation symbols appear in order to win a PS4.

On its blog, Sony says it was inspired by the hashtag #PlayStationMemories which trended worldwide earlier this year. "We read a lot of your tweets and messages and wanted to make a film to represent what PlayStation has meant to all of us since 1995," says the brand. It also explains how other brands including Domino's helped, by supplying authentic products from the different dates. Watch the Making Of video to see more.
