A Bored King Escapes Into the PlayStation Universe in an Epic Spot from Sony

BBH and Martin de Thurah Serve Up a Sumptuous Medieval Feast

Sony PlayStation's sumptuous new spot features a powerful medieval king, who, despite past achievements and glories, finds himself bored by life in his castle. His days of slaying dragons and fighting battles seem to have been replaced by meetings with ancient advisors and tedious entertainments, and despite still having a twinkle in his eye for the ladies, his life seems to have become less adventurous.

Finally, he escapes the castle and enters the PlayStation universe, where there are more battles to be fought, monsters to attack and even spaceships to chase. PlayStation fans will of course recognize many of the references, and there are plenty of Easter Eggs to find.

The ad, by BBH New York, is set to a choral rendition of The Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)," and was directed by Martin de Thurah at Epoch. It's a gorgeously filmed epic -- and is it just us, or does the king remind us of Jonathan Rhys Meyers in "The Tudors"?
