Starling: Starling

A whole new way to watch with friends.

Editor's Pick

Starling has launched its new Social TV platform, which allows viewers to communicate and interact around a show with each other, through their mobile devices, tablet computers and the web.

The platform adopts the emerging "co-viewing" technology that generates social media discussions when viewers gather online. Popular comments and comments from viewer's friends are also sorted on the site. Viewers can vote on those comments they like simply by tapping the screen. Those with popular comments get points via a global scoring system.

Kevin Slavin, President of Starling, had worked on a similar technology out of Area/Code, the gaming company which he co-founded with Frank Lantz. MTV's Backchanne gamel created a communal, competitive chat viewing experience around the show The Hills. Slavin will remain at board level at A/C while at Starling.
