Stella Artois: The Ritual Project

The ritual becomes a spectacle

Stella Artois and Mother New York have commissioned a group of New York painters to create an outdoor spectacle of the brand's "pouring ritual."

Over 21 days, the painters will hand-paint a 20 by 50 foot poster on the side of a building in SoHo, creating a stop-frame animation of the pour. Spectators can view the work unfolding through vintage viewfinders on site.

The Ritual Project, which will include time-lapse film footagephotos to interviews with the painters, will be brought to life as a short project documentary.

Rated 1.00 Just too hip for words. I just have to add I hate the: let's get artists to do our work approach to advertising." I'm sure it's gratifying, but all it produces is wall paper. OK, I know absolut did it brilliantly, but no one else ever has. Put it to bed Mother and find some people who understand advertising and put them to work.

Rated 0.50 Vintage viewfinders and artists? Sounds like absolutely nobody outside of those in the ad industry will have a clue as to what this billboard is supposed to do? My mom won't.
