Oversharing Grandma Inspires Literal Tree-Hugging in Sweet New Subaru Ad

Three Generations of a Family in Search of Its Roots Pile Into an Outback for a Drive Down Memory Lane

Editor's Pick

Three generations of a family pile into an Outback in this sweet, funny new Subaru spot, and right off the bat free-spirited Grandma starts oversharing as she tells her granddaughter about a fond memory ("I was naked, ziplining with a man ..."). Turns out they're on a country roadtrip in search of a particular historic tree, and when they find it (or think they find it), the narrator intones "Some things are worth holding on to." More funny sweetness follows thanks to some quite literal tree-hugging.

The version shown above runs one minute and has been posted to Subaru's YouTube channel; a 30-second cut is also airing on U.S. national TV.
