"Here's my card" could mean a little more, once this popular Kickstarter project comes to fruition. The "Swivelcard" is a new business card that when folded, transforms into a USB drive, delivering to its recipients a whole lot more than a name, title and number. Not only can it provide info such as resume, a photo and video gallery -- it can also be later re-programmed by the giver to provide those who receive it with bespoke data.
For example, a photographer can pass out his card to potential customers, take their pictures on the spot and later deliver those images to those future clients. A bride and groom can give the cards to guests at their wedding and after the ceremony, create personal thank yous and lead them to a gallery of pics from the event. Users can even run analytics on the card usage.
The company is currently promoting and crowd-funding its paper transformers on Kickstarter through September 10 and, to date, its $10,000 goal has been met and exceeded by more than $17,000. Those who back the project can get their own personalized cards starting at $29 for 10, and the company founders hope to have some produced and ready to ship out in October.
