Voice actor/YouTuber and self-professed Taco Bell lover Jake Foushee is the brains behind the amateur video that heralds the arrival of summer's "hottest" food debut: Fiery, Taco Bell's next Doritos Locos Taco. Here, he shows off the upcoming menu item, which appears to have a fluorescent crimson shell. The taco is based off the Doritos Flama chip, which is bright red with a hint of lime.
Whether it's as hot as it looks, eaters will have to decide for themselves. On his YouTube post, Foushee says that from August 19th, consumers can try the "#FieryDLT" out at their nearest Taco Bell, but they'll have to ask for it by name since it won't be on the menu officially until August 22.
As AdAge reported yesterday, speculation about what the next flavor of the Doritos Locos Taco has been going on for a while. The brand's first two hits -- the original was introduced in March 2012 followed by the Cool Ranch a year later -- were enormously successful, being some of the most successful product launches for the fast feeder in history.
The brand launched a social-media heavy campaign to tease the new flavor, with Instagram and Vine videos spelling out "New DLT" in flames, starting June. The Foushee video seems to be part of a similar socially-driven push, designed to get consumers talking. A for-television creative campaign is also on its way.
