Takashimaya: Mannequin Robot

More than just a mannequin.

Tokyo department store Takashimaya is surprising Valentine's Day shoppers with a mannequin that's actually a robot. The female android mannequin, which smiles, nods and even yawns, was developed by longstanding robot developer Dr Hiroshi Ishiguro of Osaka University. It's the first time his robots have been used in a commercial setting, but he says he sees them as the future of visual merchandising. Via JapanTrends.com.
