New York's The New Museum is livestreaming artworks throughout the city in a project to mark its 40th anniversary.
In a campaign co-ordinated by Droga5, livestreams of exhibitions throughout the museum, including "Trigger: Gender as a Tool and a Weapon," will appear in locations such as Times Square, Hotel Indigo, Mr. Purple, IFC, The Sweatshop, The Storefront Project, Catinca Tabacaru Gallery, Two Hands Cafe, Barcade and 120 Wall Street. Over 100 artworks, special events and performances will be live streamed to New Yorkers, via donated traditional and non-traditional media displays. Horizon Media is responsible for the media element.
Don Shelford, Droga5 Group Creative Director, says in a statement: "'New Museum Live' takes inspiration from one of the New Museum's very first exhibitions, the 'Window Series,' which invited artists to display their works in street-level windows for the public to see. A definitive moment in the museum's history, it established their mission as a forward-thinking establishment challenging how the museum should function. 'New Museum Live' can be viewed as a modern-day interpretation of that series, allowing New Yorkers to view new art in ways they've never been able to before."
