The New Yorker is among the many who have paid their respects to music legend Prince following his death in Minneapolis this morning. Earlier today the magazine released a preview of what will be the cover of next week's issue, which features a purple rain illustration by artist Bob Staake.

The magazine also compiled remembrances of the artist from its various writers. Its previous coverage also included a 2007 piece by Sasha Frere-Jones about Prince in Las Vegas, a 2008 story from Claire Hoffman who visited him at his home in Los Angeles and another from Sarah Larson about Prince's recent announcement of a memoir we're afraid we now won't see.
